Fantome-A-Thon 2012

Fantome Sante 1, 2, and 3

This has mostly been spurred by my friend Bobby, but twice now in the last six months (or there about), I have been lucky to try way more beers from Fantome then I would have ever previously imagined.

Unfortunately I don't have much in the way of photos from the "original" Fantome-A-Thon (2011), but I did manage to snag a few pictures this time.

The final list of (Fantome) beers ended up including:

BBB Pop
Blanche
Caeymaex
Fleur de Bomal
La Gillmoir
La Gourmande
Noire de Noire
Saint Laurent
Saison dErezée (Winter)
Sante 1-15 (including a special fruited version of Sante 11)

It was very interesting to see how some of the beers had held up to considerable aging.  Some faired well (such as Sante 1 and 3), others not so well (such as most of the early and middle Sante releases).

This tasting helped confirm my ever strengthening belief in drinking beer fresher rather than aging it to death.

More complete tasting notes can be found on my Rate Beer profile.

Starting Over

It's been awhile since I posted anything.  In large part because I had originally set out to create a brewing blog, but I realized I don't brew terribly frequently.

Instead I will focus on beer events, tastings, etc. and some other things that I actually do get around to doing with some frequency such as hiking, perhaps working out/trying to lose my gut.  Hopefully that will lead me to post more often.
